Promising three-year-old Freak on a Lead is likely to start favourite to make it back-to-back wins when he steps out in the Kevin Sharkie Class 1 Handicap over 1200m in Hobart on Sunday.

Freak On A Lead broke his maiden status last start in Devonport where he scored by almost two lengths over Needarein over 1150m.

The Scott Brunton-trained gelding was having only his seventh start and had notched three minor placings leading up to his maiden win.

The flashy chestnut was impressive in winning last Sunday week, after which Brunton said the gelded son of Moshe is probably more suited to the turf.

One of his part-owners Roberta Blacklow was thrilled with the maiden win and she will be hoping for more of the same on Sunday.

Ms Blacklow engages in a tradition or sorts on race day with every horse in which she has a share, and it involves her sister who grows four-leaf clovers.

Ms Blacklow will ensure a freshly grown four-leaf clover is handed to the rider of her horse, and that is usually placed in a riding boot and the jockey is usually David Pires.

"I give the clover to the rider just to keep him and the horse safe," Ms Blacklow said.

The query will be the track that is likely to be on the slow to heavy side, but if the gelding gets through the conditions he should win.

The Alana Fulton-trained Perkins has soft to heavy form and should appreciate being back on the turfm while the top weight Hot Relation, prepared by Tegan Keys, has been placed at his past three starts, including a last-start second to Videmanette that went on to win again in Devonport last Sunday.

Talented mare Boom Dot Com looks to be one of the best bets on the eight-race card as she is a mud lark and from all reports is flying on the training track.

Boom Dot Com won twice last preparation in Launceston over 1400m in March before heading to Melbourne on a hit and run mission at Sandown which didn't work out for connections.

The mare will be ridden by in-form apprentice Codi Jordan who openly declares Boom Dot Com is her favourite horse in the Stevenson stable.

She has drawn ideally in gate three from which she should be afforded a charmed run.

There is a bit of depth in the race with last-start winner O'Lonh Star, Geegee Trendsetter and Gee Gee True Story all winning chances along with the Scott Brunton pair of Jeremiah and Savs Finale that deals with a heavy track.
