Brooklyn Hustle in top order for Group 1 assault

After a string of luckless Group 1 performances, Brooklyn Hustle has hit form ahead on her latest assault in the Tattersall’s Tiara.

Brooklyn Hustle has been a source of frustration for her connections but she gets the chance to finally add a Group 1 victory to her resume in the Tattersall's Tiara at Eagle Farm

The JJason Warren and Dean Krongold-trained mare has raced in Group 1 company on seven occasions prior to Saturday's contest and is yet to finish in the placings.

Even in lesser races, at Group 2 and Group 3 level, she had been unable to win and had only two wins to her name at the start of the current racing season.

But it is amazing what confidence can do.

Brooklyn Hustle broke through in the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes at Morphettville last month and backed it up with success in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm on June 12.

Now it's the Tattersall's Tiara at Group 1 level and Warren goes into Saturday's 1400m contest bullish about the mare's chances.

"It's a nice progression from Group 3 to Group 2 and it would be nice to get the Group 1," Warren said.

"With everything that is going on and not being sure whether the restrictions could be lifted, we couldn't commit to a Victorian rider and Craig (Williams) was obligated to the other mare Tofane.

"So, we've gone with Michael Cahill.

"She needs a good senior jockey that can be confident in not having to pull the trigger too soon.

"He's watched all her replays and he's very keen."

With state borders about to reopen following Victoria's recent COVID lockdown, Warren has been unable to travel to see the mare.

But he has had one of his trusted lieutenants, Simon Bouchier, looking after the mare, travelling to Adelaide for the carnival and further north to the stay at the Gold Coast.

"It would be a nice result for Simon if she could get the Group 1 win on the board," Warren said.
