Gavin Bedggood experienced one of his best days in racing a fortnight ago when he captured his first metropolitan double as a trainer.

The two horses, No Effort and Sir Kalahad, are down to run again at Caulfield on Saturday.

No Effort lines up in the Neds Same Race Multi Handicap (2000m) with Sir Kalahad, the second emergency, in the Neds Handicap (1440m).

Sir Kalahad needs a couple of scratching and the rain to arrive to take his place.

"He's a benchmark 70 horse on firm but is almost an open handicapper on wet ground," Bedggood said.

Bedggod is a former jumps jockey who won the Grand Annual Steeplechase at Warrnambool on Banna Strand in 2013, but the Sandown double on June 12 was a career highlight.

While there is some doubt about Sir Kalahad taking his place, No Effort is in top shape.

"I think she's in just as good order, maybe a fraction better, than she was going into her last run," Bedggood said.

"The barrier draw doesn't bother me too much. There doesn't look to be a lot of speed and I would think she'll be able to find the front.

"If she can get those couple of cheap fractions, she'll be thereabouts again with no weight."

No Effort was successful over 1800m at Sandown and Bedggood said the 2000m trip was ideal.

"She's won a Pinker Pinker at Cranbourne, she was beaten a pimple in it last year and she's won the Traralgon Cup over 1900 metres," Bedggood said.

"If anything, she's probably better at the 10 furlongs and the 1800 metres at Sandown is pretty tough with the uphill run home.

"She meets Bedford closer in the weights than what she did at Sandown, but we've only gone for the 1.5kg claim this time as Carleen Hefel is out of action.

"She'll look the winner at some stage and if she gets bloused late, so-be-it."
