Trainer Steve Tregea is confident boom stayer Incentivise can overcome a seven-day back-up to claim his first Group race at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Incentivise will attempt to stretch his winning sequence to six when he lines up in the Group 3 Tattersall's Cup over 2400 metres.
Tregea originally preferred to start the four-year-old in next week's Listed Caloundra Cup over 2400 metres at the Sunshine Coast, but backflipped during the week to target this week's Group 3 feature.
"He showed he could handle Eagle Farm when he won over 1810 metres two starts back and we know the distance won't be a worry," Tregea said.
"He's never backed up before and it's always a concern not knowing if they can do it but I'm confident he won't have a problem."
Incentivise was bred by Tregea at his boutique Windemere stud at Toowoomba and has been the find of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival, stunning many observers with his recent wins.
Since winning a 1600-metre maiden win at the Sunshine Coast in mid-April, Incentivise has gone on a five-run winning streak.
His performances caught the attention of prominent Victorian owners Brae Sokolski and Ozzie Kheir, who recently bought a 50% stake in the son of Cox Plate winner Shamus Award.
He will be transferred to Melbourne trainer Peter Moody for a spring campaign which could include a tilt at the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.
Incentivise has stunned many observers by annihilating his opposition by seven lengths at Toowoomba, nine lengths at Eagle Farm before a near 10-length win in the Provincial Stayer's Final at Ipswich last week.
Tregea was never concerned when Incentivise had to set up from his Eagle Farm win to 2500 metres in the Provincial Cup at Ipswich last week.
"I knew he was fit and he had won over 2150 metres at Toowoomba," he said.
"When you take the hill at Toowoomba into account I was always confident he'd run 2500 metres around Ipswich.
"He seems to be well and truly seasoned now so it's not a bad option to go to Eagle Farm this Saturday after he won so well last week."
Tregea said he considered giving Incentivise a break following his Ipswich victory before he heads to trainer Peter Moody in Melbourne for a spring campaign.
