Trainer Shane Nichols and jockey Dean Yendall renewed their association with the win of So You Assume at Sandown.

The pair joked prior to the running of the Ladbrokes Blended Multi Handicap (1600m) on Wednesday who was responsible for dumping who from certain runners.

Yendall has ridden countless winners for Nichols and was aboard the trainer's first Group 1 success when I Am A Star won the Myer Stakes during Melbourne Cup week in 2016.

"Dean and I have had a bit of luck over the years," Nichols said.

"We were having a bit of a debate over whether he's jumped off some of mine or whether I sacked him.

"I think he bailed and he thinks I sacked him."

The relationship has been rekindled with a well-judged front running by Yendall on So You Assume ($16) who registered a long-neck win from Breeze 'N' Luna ($9) with Diamond Dagger ($9.50) 3-½ lengths away third.

A daughter of So You Think, So You Assume was in her right race on Wednesday according to Nichols.

"It was a nice, well-rated ride," Nichols said.

"She's a pretty tough filly and when she was allowed to back off in the mid-stages, she was always going to run the mile out strongly.

"It was the perfect race for her, a benchmark 64, up to the mile, on the big Sandown track with a bit of sting out, it was always going to suit."

Nichols has no ambitious plans and would like to return before the end of the season, July 31, to try and win another race while the Super VOBIS money is available for the three-year-old.

"We'll race on for the next couple of months as she doesn't need to be landing in the spring," he said.

"She's an off-season sort of horse and hopefully we can have another go at one of these VOBIS races because of the prize money."
