Evans' statewide search for success

3 minute read

Kristi Evans has done plenty of miles across South Australia over the past seven days in search of success.

The Meadows-based trainer has recently shifted working her team from Strathalbyn to Morphettville and whilst she is racking up kilometres she's getting the right results.

She had a winner with The Raven at Port Augusta last Sunday before Keysor was successful 577 kilometres away at Bordertown on Wednesday and she's hoping The Partisan can land the stable metropolitan success at Gawler on Saturday.

The horse comes off a game effort at Morphettville when he was only reeled in late by Turfitt first-up from a spell.

"It was just greenness that got him,'' Evans, who has 29 horses in work, said.

"He got left out in front and was a bit lost late, but he's a lovely horse and should go close on Saturday.

"He's probably my best chance for the day,'' she said.

Evans also has Cashin' Chex heading to Gawler after she opted against running him at Murray Bridge last week and said the horse was starting to put things together.

"He's a lovely horse with ability, it's all just depends on if he turns up on the day,'' Evans said.

"He really responds to Justin (Potter), he's taken a long time to mature mentally and hopefully he can run well again,'' she said.

And she said King Of Camelot could be ready to improve from a good barrier after three runs back from a spell.

"I know he hasn't done much yet, but every time he races he comes out happier and more confident,'' Evans said.

"He's the one I'd really love to turn around so hopefully he can run well,'' she said.

Evans said the decision to bring the horses to Morphettville was working well despite the added time on the road.

"Everything depends on where we're racing, but the morning we can we're here at Morphettville,'' Evans said.

"We are getting down here four to six times a week, it's full on, but the horses are much better, we have better facilities, riders and the horses love it

"Having the water walker and the pool has made a big difference, we able to mix that in with a day at home or the beach but is seems to be working really well,'' she said.
