Winning Trainer: David Brideoake (rep by Matt Jenkins)
"We didn't really know what to take out of his first-up run. He'd obviously had a long time between runs - about 7 months - and it was a softish track. I believe all of his runs in Perth he hadn't been expose (on that surface) and if he had he hadn't done any good. It was pleasing to see it come up a Good 4 today.
"We had the race last Saturday lined up off the back of his frist-up run but we were deterred from it. I don't know if he didn't handle the track but we waited the extra week and thankfully we did.
Early spring aspirations: "The boys from Perth sent him over her. I think they believed that he was up to this level and he showed that today. He probably wants to get out to a mile and we'll pick off races as we go along."
"We're in a really good purple patch at the moment. I'm sure it will end eventually but enjoying it while it's here."
Winning Jockey: Ben Melham
"It was a good speed but that suits my bloke. He's a big, bold on-pace sort of horse and covers a lot of ground in his stride. We were going along at a nice tempo but it did suit him. Really knuckled down late to win."
Is he more of a miler: "I rode him in work before today and he really doesn't strike me as that kind of a horse. 1200 metres-1400 ok. A mile, maybe not. I think he's in for a really good preparation."
Driving finish with Malkovich: "That was one of our castoffs so even our castoffs are fast. Bloody hard to get past."
