Heavy rain in the north-eastern part of Victoria has resulted in Racing Victoria programming a new meeting on Sunday.

Warracknabeal will be the venue of the meeting after heavy rain forced RV to abandon the Wangaratta meeting that was set down for Sunday.

The Wangaratta track had received 55mm of rain over the past seven days, including 11mm which fell overnight, and RV decided to abandon the meeting due to the state of the track on Tuesday.

With no other tracks available in the north-east of Victoria, Warracknabeal was deemed the best turf track option.

The track was rated a Soft 7 on Tuesday afternoon.

There has been a spate of transferred meetings in Victoria in the past week.

The Bendigo meeting last Thursday was abandoned because of the state of the track while the Echuca meeting on Sunday was transferred to Warracknabeal.

Weather conditions in the south-west of Victoria forced Monday's Warrnambool meeting to Casterton.

Trainers have until midday on Wednesday to nominate for the Warracknabeal meeting on Sunday while acceptances will be taken on Thursday.

Sale will also race on Sunday before five days of no racing in Victoria ahead of racing at The Valley and Pakenham Synthetic on July 31.
