With six meetings remaining in the season Codi Jordan looked certain to win the Tasmanian apprentice’s premiership when she trailed Kyle Maskiell by only two wins.

But when she arrived in Hobart on Sunday for the last meeting of the season, she still trailed by two and needed a treble to clinch the title.

The 23-year-old, who only started riding 10 months ago, delivered a masterclass to ride three winners and clinch the title with 39 wins for the season.

Codi Jordan began her charge for the crown with a win aboard Tassie O'Reilly ($5.50) that toughed it out over 1400 metres to win from Under His Eye ($5) and race favourite I'm Back ($2.05).

Tassie O'reilly is trained by Glenn Stevenson to whom Jordan is indentured and he was delighted with the win and his apprentice's ride.

"Codi has had a great season and she has been a real asset to this stable and I was really hoping she could get a treble and win the premiership," Stevenson said.

The talented apprentice then teamed up with John Luttrell and her second win for the day arrived courtesy of Don'Tbuckme Off leading throughout to take out the benchmark 66 handicap as a $16 outsider.

It was a clever ride from Jordan who was aware that the horse has tended to wait for his rivals in previous starts when he has forged to the lead, so with that in mind, she opted to send him straight to the front to take the idiosyncrasy out of the equation and it worked perfectly.

With a share of the premiership secured, Jordan jumped aboard Nev's Boy and she delivered the ride of the day to win a TasracingTV Class 1 Handicap to claim the apprentice's title outright.

"I came to the meeting content that I have had a great first season and I thought if the wins came, all well and good, but whatever the outcome I've had a very good first season," Jordan said.

"But thankfully I got the best possible result.

"I was rapt for my boss that Tassie O'Reilly finally won a race.

"John (Luttrell) has been a big supporter of me, and he told me last Sunday in Devonport that he had two winners for me today and he was right.

"The last six weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but I've got the job done and I couldn't be happier."

Jordan said she had hoped to take a short break at the end of the season and travel to New Zealand with her partner, but COVID-19 travel restrictions have put a dampener on those plans.

"We might take a few days off and maybe travel somewhere here in Tassie, but I'll sort that out later in the week."
