2021 UP AND COMING STAKES - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Up And Coming Stakes is a Group 3 race run under Quality Handicap conditions for three year olds usually run at Randwick conducted by the Australian Turf Club.

The Up And Coming Stakes is run over 1300m. It was first run in 1979 and was won by Spear.

The Up And Coming Stakes has been run at Randwick, Warwick Farm and Canterbury but been at Randwick since 2014.

The Up And Coming Stakes started as a Listed Race then got to be a Group 2 from 1993 to 2004 but has been G3 in the other years.

Despite running excellent races in his two year old season, Fastnet Rock's first win was in the 2004 Up And Coming Stakes.

In winning the G3 race on debut in 2008, Dreamscape became one of the few horses in Australia to win a group race first time to the track.

Divine Prophet would win the Caulfield Guineas three runs later in 2016.
