Peter Snowden's vast experience has taught him never to pigeon-hole a three-year-old before giving them the chance to prove their credentials.

In that vein, Snowden will saddle up Construct and Revivalist in Saturday's Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) at Kembla Grange with an open mind on where they might end up this spring.

Construct received a good grounding as a juvenile, finishing runner-up in the Breeders' Plate before embarking on a Victorian campaign where his runs included a midfield effort in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes

He resumed at Canterbury last month and failed to handle a heavy track but showed his true ability with a convincing victory at Kembla when he overcame an interrupted run to earn himself another shot at stakes level.

"The thing about three-year-olds is you can never put a cap on them too early because they can certainly surprise you and the better ones can jump up really quickly," Snowden said.

"These horses have both had a couple of starts, but not a lot.

"Construct has been racing at a good level and been performing and he was a good maiden winner the other day. Albeit, it was a maiden, he won quite well.

"He ran good races in the Diamond and Preludes, so he has always had some talent and he gets his chance to get a race like this."

Revivalist broke his maiden at Newcastle in July then made the running at Randwick last start and gave a good kick before being run down in the final bounds by War Eternal.

Snowden feels the horse might have held on had he seen his rival coming earlier, so he has swapped blinkers for a visor this weekend.

"Revivalist is only lightly raced but he won his maiden well at Newcastle and last start at Randwick he only got beaten on the line, so that was a good effort over 1400," Snowden said.

"He's had a little bit of a freshen up in between and his work has been really good. He should run well again on Saturday."

Both horses are being kept safe in the market with Revivalist a $9.50 chance and Construct at $10.

If either wins, they will give Snowden a fifth Up And Coming Stakes trophy following victories by Rarefied (2009), Blackball (2010), Albrecht (2012) and Dracharys in 2017.
