John Thompson reckons his Silver Shadow Stakes contender Xtremetime is like a Formula One racing car.

She isn't built to idle.

Thompson made the analogy after the filly wanted to over-race for Brenton Avdulla in two lead-up trials, but he expects race day to be a completely different scenario.

"She's like a Formula One car and they don't go slow well," Thompson said.

"If you try to go slow in a Formula One car, they stall.

"They like going fast and she's the same."

Xtremetime had one run over the summer before making a late-autumn appearance and stringing together wins at Canterbury and in the Listed Woodlands Stakes at Rosehill.

She resumes against a talented field of fillies in Saturday's Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m), a race Thompson has a great record in with Pane In The Glass (2011), Nechita (2012) and Thump (2013) all successful.

His three winners were all sprinters, but Thompson says Xtremetime is more in the mould of his former star filly First Seal and will improve when she is stepped up in journey.

"She's a quality filly. I don't know how she will go over the shorter distances, but I reckon she will really come into her own when they get over the 1400 metres and the mile," Thompson said.

"Nechita and Thump were real speedsters, Pane In The Glass was more speed as well.

"They were all little fillies where she is a big, scopey filly like First Seal, so she will be better as they stretch out a bit."

The Silver Shadow Stakes is the first race in the four-leg Princess Series, which no filly has managed to clean-sweep since Samantha Miss claimed all four series races in 1998.

Dame Giselle came close 12 months ago winning the Silver Shadow (1200m), Furious (1200m) and Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) before finishing fourth to Montefilia in the Flight Stakes (1600m).
