Warwick Farm trainer Gary Portelli has been forced into plan B with his sprinter Spaceboy after missing out on a run at The Valley.

Spaceboy was due to start in the Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) last Saturday but just prior to being loaded on the truck for the travel to Melbourne, the sprinter became cast in his box.

Fellow Sydney sprinter Ballistic Lover took out the Carylon Stakes and after missing out last week's outing Portelli has switched his attention to Saturday.

Spaceboy is now set to contest the Group 3 The Heath 1100 (1100m) at Caulfield, a trip the son of Deep Field finished second over at Randwick, behind Valaquenta, at his most recent outing on July 31.

The sprinter is no stranger to travelling to Melbourne having finished second to Kalkarni Royale, an opponent on Saturday, over 1000m at Flemington on July 17.

Portelli said Spaceboy had recovered from his ordeal last week.

"He got cast just before I was about to load him," Portelli said.

"He rolled over in his stable and took some skin off. He wasn't lame but they wouldn't have let him run, so we just patched him up.

"He galloped well on Tuesday morning and he's ready to go."

Portelli has been keeping an eye on the Melbourne weather with Spaceboy.

Last week at The Valley, forecast rain did not eventuate and the track on race day was upgraded from a Good 4 surface to a Good 3 following the first three races.

"I'd love to see a bit of rain, but you never know with Melbourne," Portelli said.

"He looks great, and I'm sure he will run well."
