Rubiquitous back with a bang.
Chris Anderson has a few options at his disposal in the three-year-old ranks after Rubiquitous and The Rattlesnake provided the stable with a one-three finish in the 3YO Open Handicap at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Rubiquitous had not raced since January and Anderson pulled the right rein scratching from the Sunshine Coast last Sunday and waiting for the richer race in town.
The son of Rubick won on debut at Caloundra in January before placing second in Brisbane at his next start.
He had won a Doomben trial on August 3 on his road to a return.
Rubiquitous was chosen for the Anderson stable by Glenlogan Park's Steve Morley and the trainer is happy to work his way through the grades.
"There's another race for him in a fortnight, so we will go there and assess after that," Anderson said.
The Rattlesnake was coming off a debut Ipswich win and measured up well in the stronger grade.
Splitting the pair was Mister Larabee in the famous Winx colours. He loomed to win inside the 300m point, but apprentice Kyle Wilson-Taylor said the gelding just peaked on his run.
Earlier, Rob Heathcote and Leah Kilner combined for a winning double with improving mare Aswaat (Class 3 Plate, 1800m) and the grey Sergeant Silva (3YO Open, 1600m).
Heathcote said Sergeant Silva would now be given a short break before being brought back with the intention of getting him over more ground.
One mare already proven over a distance is Ocean Treaty, who caused a boilover in the final event on the card when she took a rails run under Steph Thornton to win the Benchmark 75 Handicap (1400m).
Trainer Steve O'Dea said he feared the 1400m would be too short, but the fact she was able to get the prize augurs well for a profitable campaign ahead for the Proven Thoroughbreds raced mare.
Toowoomba trainer Mark Currie is going to test in form mare Je Suis Belle over more ground after she made it two Eagle Farm 1000m wins in succession.
Currie labelled the 1300m Pink Ribbon Cup as the mare's next likely target at the Gold Coast on September 18.
