In Brief

  • Tassie Miss gets her chance to break through.
  • Our Shinkansen is an each-way prospect second-up.
  • Cheeky One the bargain buy aiming for six straight.

Trinder has prepared at least one winner at each of the five meetings so far this season and while he only saddles up three this Sunday, all are winning chances.

Tassie Miss gets her chance to break the maiden status in the Ladbroke It Maiden over 1650m in which she will carry only 54.5kg courtesy of stable apprentice Eric Byrne Burke 's two-kilogram claim.

The mare has been knocking on the door with minor placings at two of her past three starts, the latest a second to Karnak Kid on her home track in Devonport three weeks ago.

All three previous outings were over 1650m and her past two have been on the speed efforts, so provided Who's the Rider can't cross Tassie Miss early, Trinder's four-year-old should be able to dictate, and if that happens, she should emerge triumphant.

Our Shinkansen will go into the Kevin Sharkie benchmark 60 Handicap (1150m) second-up and much improved from her first-up attempt in Devonport two weeks ago when sixth of nine to Gee Gee Plane but beaten only 2.2 lengths.

Our Shinkansen is probably better suited on the turf, but this still looks a very winnable proposition.

Cheeky One is Trinder's final runner for the day in the Tasmanian Horse Transport Benchmark 66 Handicap over 1350m (race 8) in which the talented four-year-old mare is trying for six wins in succession.

While she will carry three kilograms more (58.5kg) than she did last start, she is in the same grade as she has contested at her past three starts and she is in career best form.

Cheeky One cost her owner Wayne Roser only $3,000 at the Inglis Yearling Sale in Melbourne but she is responsible for over $71,000 in prizemoney that is helping to pay the bills for other more expensive steeds.

Cheeky One has the versatility to lead or come from behind, so rider Byrne Burke will have the luxury of seeing how the mare jumps before executing her riding tactics.
