The decision by New Zealand trainer Emma-Lee and David Browne to have a small team in Melbourne for the spring has continued to pay dividends.

The husband-and-wife team landed their third winner from nine starts when Rhinoceros took out the Ladbrokes Cash In Plate (1600m) on Wednesday.

Elephant kick-started the campaign with victory at Caulfield on August 14 and almost pulled-off a huge result when narrowly beaten in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes (1600m) at The Valley last Saturday.

Bifrost was successful for the Browne's at Pakenham on August 17 while it was the third run of the campaign for Rhinoceros since his arrival.

Sent off the $4.40 favourite under Jordan Childs, Rhinoceros led throughout in scoring by 1-¼ lengths from Blackcomb ($5.50) with Quite The Lass ($7.50) 1-¾ lengths off third.

David Browne, who has left his wife and children behind in New Zealand, said the Victoria Derby Trial (1800m) at Flemington on September 22 was the likely next race on the agenda for Rhinoceros.

"We'll assess how he comes through this and make a plan," Browne said.

"He's been a bit green and a bit keen but he's finally settling into his job now.

"For a small stable we've probably had the best bunch of horses we've had for a while and it's good to get them out and about over here."

Also expected to be joining Rhinoceros at Flemington is Ladbrokes Switch Handicap (1600m) winner Barb Raider

The Jerome Hunter -trained filly is likely to run in the Kennedy Oaks Trial (1800m).

"We've had a long-term plan and today was a part of that," Hunter said.

Barb Raider is a daughter of Victoria Derby winner Rebel Raider from Graebarb.

"Her mother was by Host and he got out over a bit of ground as well, so it's encouraging for this horse going up in distance," Hunter said.
