In Brief

  • Devonport program appear in the first and last races on the eight-event card.
  • Vivilici impressed first-up and meets a similar field on Sunday.
  • Rising Light to close the day on top.

The Adam Trinder-trained mare resumed from a lengthy spell with an emphatic win in a benchmark 66 event over 1150m on her home track in Devonport four weeks ago in the same grade of race and against similar opposition that she meets on Sunday.

Vivilici carried the minimum of 54kg last start courtesy of a three-kilogram claim from Trinder's stable apprentice Erica Byrne Burke and while she must lug an additional 2.5kg in this event she still gets in well at the weights.

Raghu shapes as the main danger based on his consistent form over the trip since arriving in Tasmania, although he hasn't won in almost two years when victorious in the Dual Choice Plate at Geelong in October 2019.

Rising Hsiang also has the form to warrant support and Red Letter Lady has trialed well against Mystic Journey and Still A Star last week, so she could sprint well fresh.

Punters might have to wait until the last on the eight-race card for the absolute best on the program in the Gaetan Delon-trained Rising Light that was an impressive winner last start over Wardell in a maiden-class one over 1650m in Devonport.

Rising Light raced outside of the leader until forging to the front in the home straight and then staved off a determined challenge to emerge triumphant by a half-length.

It was a courageous effort and one that suggests the gelding is every bit as good as his trainer thinks he is.

Ethical Dilemma is the obvious danger, and he has three kilogram-claiming apprentice Ianish Luximon on top to reduce the weight to 57.5kg with Up Wind and last-start winner Banca Nip also commanding respect.
