Two prominent Sydney trainers are facing charges after defying COVID protocols.
John Thompson and Craig Carmody have been named as the Randwick trainers at the centre of a COVID breach.
The pair have been ordered to front Racing NSW stewards on Tuesday over two charges relating to their non-compliance of Racing NSW's COVID-19 policies and protocols, along with NSW Health Orders.
The first charge regards conduct that is prejudicial to the image and interests of the racing industry, while the second relates to a policy breach.
Thompson and Carmody travelled to Randwick between August 2 and September 7 despite living in local government areas of concern.
They were also in attendance at two Randwick race meetings on August 21 and September 4, while Carmody is alleged to have attended meetings at several other tracks during July and August.
Stewards will hear the charges at 5pm (AEST) on Tuesday.
Thompson captured Saturday's Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) at Kembla Grange with outsider Chat but was not on track for the win.
