Winning Trainer: Joe Pride

On his reaction to the win: "I couldn't help but give him a cheer in my lounge room. My old boss John Size was a statue when he watched races and I would think how does he do that. Everyone is different but I've always felt the day I can't give them a cheer I will hand over the reins to someone else."

On the horse: "I knew I had given him the right prep and I was confident in the horse. You need luck in these Epsoms, they are hard to win, but it all panned out beautifully and he has got an engine this horse, he's a ripper. When he won first-up he signaled to me that day he had come back bigger and better than ever."

"In his last two starts, it just hasn't worked out for him but I knew in an Epsom, they are high pressure races and it would suit him. I put the blinkers on the other day and I wasn't sure what to make of his run but Hugh got off him and said the horse went really well. It was a call I had to make and I decided to leave them on."

On the owners: "It's so good to get this big win for Jamie Walter, you would not meet a nicer person, he is just like his (late) brother Guy. Jamie is a gentleman this is my biggest win for him."

On the future: "Kolding won the Queensland Guineas-Epsom Handicap-Golden Eagle treble two years ago. I am well aware of what Kolding did. We have won the Guineas and the Epsom and he will go straight to the Golden Eagle now. The Queensland winter carnival didn't look overly strong this year. But Eduardo, Incentivise and Private Eye all won good races all came through the winter carnival."

On the NRL Grand Final: "Private Eye I am in charge of but Souths I have no control – it should be a great game."

Winning Jockey: Regan Bayliss

On another big win: "Unbelievable. As we spoke about before, I've been in Sydney for 12 months. It was a massive move for me. Been in Melbourne my whole career then to go to Hong Kong then come to Sydney and try to re-establish myself. It's been a lot of work."

"I wouldn't be where I am today without Joe Pride. He is one who really backed me in Sydney from an early age. He was a trainer who put me on good chances in town and I needed to capitalise on a couple of those opportunities. I just love this horse Private Eye. He's been set for the race.Joe knows how to set them for a big one to peak on the day. He is going to be mighty hard to beat in the Golden Eagle."

On how his form is: "My weight has never been better in my whole career. I'm walking around 54kg and I rode 52.5kg today. Things are just going great. It will take a little bit to sink it today's efforts. My Grandma has been really crook at the moment so that will give her a big kick and I know my Dad and all my family will be watching. They will be proud as punch."

On the run: "There was good speed and we were just able to get on the back of the right horses and bring him down the outside. We know he's got that great turn of foot and he showed us today."

On The Metrop: "Warning is a great chance I think. It's an open Metropolitan this year. If he can get the right run I'm sure he can be in the mix."

Beaten Jockeys:

Tommy Berry (Mo'unga): "Geesh it was an effort, three wide no cover the whole way with the weight. He's only been beaten a couple of lengths. Couldn't have been any prouder of him."

Hugh Bowman (Cascadian): "Ran a superb race. The team got him to peak on the day. He hasn't disappointed."

James McDonald (Dalasan): "What a super horse he is. Pleasure to ride. Disappointing about the result."

Sam Clipperton (Star Of The Seas): "He went too bad to be true. Might be something amiss with him."

Jean Van Overmeire (Lion's Roar): "I thought it was a really good run. Travelled into the straight he gave me an enormous feel. Just a few slightly sharper than him late."

Kerrin McEvoy (Hungry Heart): "We got a nice trip around. Was actually pretty happy the way we travelled. I pressed the button and thought we are going to be right in this but she levelled out the last bit. Might be looking for further than a mile now."

Robbie Dolan (Icebath): "She nearly fell over out of the gates and ended up at the rear of the field. I probably should have tried to get to the outside a bit more but she started travelling in amongst horses. Unlucky not to be closer."

Brock Ryan (Rock): "He didn't have the best of luck in the middle stages of the race. He attacked the line really well."

Rachel King (Riodini): "Just raced like a tired horse. Think he needs a break."

Alysha Collett (Aramayo): "He's gone down by the narrowest of margins. It was a really good run. This time next year maybe we'll get one."

Glen Boss (Reloaded): "He ran well. He just isn't up to that grade."

Kathy O'Hara (Atishu): "She is a mare on the way up still. She has improvement there. Stepping up to that stage today she will only get better."

James Innes (Discharged): "Got into a lovely spot. Travelling really well for me. That track is a little bit shifty now and maybe off the quick back up it might have taken that edge off him. I wasn't disappointed."

Jeff Penza (Ashman): "Did it a bit tough up front. A bit hard a race for him."

Andrew Adkins (Harmony Rose): "Today wasn't her day. There was a lot of speed drawn underneath us. They went twice as quick as I thought they would. Had no luck from the wide barrier. Was entitled to run how she did."

Tim Clark (Sky Lab): "He ran OK. Probably looking for a bit further now. I rode him to hold a spot but it might have backfired."
