2021 NORTHWOOD PLUME STAKES - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Northwood Plume Stakes is a Group 3 race run under Set Weights and Penalty conditions for four year old and up mares at Caulfield conducted by the Melbourne Racing Club.

The Northwood Plume Stakes is run over 1200m. It was first run in 2005 and was won by Crimson Reign.

The Northwood Plume Stakes began as a Listed race then was a Group 3 in 2013.

Several recent winners have subsequently won G1 races following their Caulfield win.

Not only did Tofane win the Begonia Belle on 2019 Derby day, she came back in the Autumn and ran great races until she secured the All Aged Stakes in April.

The registered name of the race is after the 1000 Guineas/VRC Oaks winner trained by Lee Freedman.

The Northwood Plume Stakes was worth $200,000 in 2021.

Notable winners of the Northwood Plume Stakes include Fiesta (2020), Tofane (2019), Winter Bride (2018), Sheidel (2016), Politeness (2015), Griante (2014), Avenue (2010), Belong To Many (2008) and Crimson Reign (2005).
