Easy Road looking to mirror last season’s first-up triumph

3 minute read

Finding winners on the eight-event card in Launceston on Wednesday night won’t be easy but returns on investments should be above par at the first meeting back on turf in almost three months.

EASY ROAD.

It was a similar scenario at last season's first night meeting of the season that saw only two favourites salute and both were from the Adam Trinder stable in Our Shinkansen ($1.85) and Easy Road that was first-up and was backed in from near double figures to start the $4.40 favourite.

Easy Road lines up on Wednesday night in The R. F. Ferguson Memorial Benchmark 76 Handicap (1100m) and goes into the race with two encouraging trials to his credit, the latest a second to Gee Gee Queen Bee in Devonport (800m) on 21 September.

It follows an almost identical program that Trinder used last season.

Early indicators suggest open betting in all races, especially the first two that are maidens over 1400m and 1200m respectively, so it will pay to watch for any substantial market moves, not only for the maidens, but throughout the night.

TasracingTV will again provide live steaming of all night meetings this season with mounting yard reports essential viewing as this often delivers crucial information that punters need prior to investing.

The first two night meetings will be without coverage on Sky Thoroughbred Central (STC) due to Sky's commitment to other programming, so the first Tasmanian meeting to be covered on STC is 22 October, a Friday night meeting that coincides with Manikato night at Moonee Valley.

All Tasmanian night meetings, starting on Wednesday night, will be fully covered on Sky 1 with Peter Staples' late mail displayed for each race and all the night meetings beyond 13 October will be covered in part by STC up to and including December 15.

Duncan Dornauf and Matt Reid will co-host the opening night meeting of the season and as the season progresses Tasmanian night racing will include live studio hosted coverage from Sports Entertainment Network's radio station (SEN).

The SEN radio-live stream package will be filtered into Tasracing TV's live stream from 27 October that comprises SEN on-air hosts broadcasting in conjunction with TasracingTV throughout the night.
