Winning Trainer: James Cummings (Sean Keogh speaking)
"He's just such a wonderful animal. Such a rare animal and the expectations on the horse from 'day dot' have been there and that adds to the pressure. He's delivered.
"In his two-year-old year he was a Group 1 winner and to turn that to the highest level as a three-year-old is just unbelievable.
"This was a grand final target, you might say. He always seemed in the mould of a horse that would relish the mile, a classic type about him.
"The guy's targeted it a fair way out. Even as a two-year-old he was always that type of horse. A lot went into it and to produce him on the day with an effort like that was just outstanding from the team in Sydney and all around Australia.
"They'll be very proud of this horse."
Tactics: "James would have assessed the race at acceptances and all the way through. We had a couple of scratchings so we didn't see the final field until today. We always had faith in the quality and talent of the horse.
"We didn't want to change anything he had been doing in the past. We'd seen from when he broke his maiden in the Merson Cooper, he was very much in the mould of his sire, Street Boss. That quality he possesses from the mare, also.
"James and Damien would have had a talk about that but essentially just let the horse do his thing and we thought he would be capable on the day and it played out nicely."
Winning Jockey: Damien Oliver
31 years between Caulfield Guineas wins: "It's a long time between drinks.
"It took a top class colt to do it. He's shown us so much since day one. He's just a magnificent specimen of a horse. When I got on him today, the first time for a little while, I could see that he had grown into a beautiful horse that we thought he would.
"We had a nice run, three-wide with cover, but he never really took me into the race. I was just at him a bit to switch him on and even when he got to the front he felt like he pricked his ears.
"He's a magnificent horse. He's like a lot of good horses, he knows he's good, pricks his ears for the camera.
"It's a great thrill to win a big race for Godolphin. They've been great supporters over the last 12 months and there's a great team behind them with Reg (Fleming) and Sean (Keogh) down here in Melbourne and James has certainly given us a lot of support down here as well."
Cummings family have been so good: "I rode my first Group 1 for his grandfather Bart here on Submariner in the Sir Rupert Clarke. I've ridden Group 1's for his father Anthony and now James as well.
"It's good to do it for three generations."
On the barrier: "It probably panned out the way I hoped it was going to. I was hoping to find the back of Captivant. He's a good horse and he could take me into the race three-wide with cover.
"It doesn't always work out the way you want it but it did today. He's a nice momentum building horse and he was able to unleash a good finish down the outside."
2000m of Cox Plate: "I wouldn't put it beyond him. He's a big strong colt. He relaxes well. I'm sure the team will have a discussion about that. He's certainly got the right temperament for it and he's a lovely horse. We'll see what happens."
Beaten Jockeys:
Damian Lane - Artorius: "Really good run. Unfortunately didn't step well and ended up a long way back."
Craig Williams - Tiger Of Malay: "I think he represented himself well over 1600 metres today."
Damien Thornton - Alpine Edge: "Doesn't run a mile."
Luke Currie - Captivant: "Really good run. Just beaten by a better one on the day."
Luke Nolen - Lightsaber: "Very nice run. Probably 1600 metres in this grade sees him out."
Brett Prebble - Giannis: "Track is too hard for him. He really felt it and he just couldn't let go on it"
Daniel Moor - Forgot You: "Lovely closing run. He followed the winner but the winner had a bit to sharp a turn-of-foot for him but he closed off well."
Jye McNeil - Mr Mozart: "He was honest enough up in class. Just had to do it the tough way wide and on-speed."
Jamie Mott - Daily Bugle: "He travelled good throughout the race. Got a bit tight to the corner and I don't think he appreciated it."
Jordan Childs - Knightstown: "Ran as well as it could. Probably not quite up to that level yet."
Craig Newitt - Zerelle: "He was disappointing today. He bounced good and had a nice run outside the speed albeit it was a pretty strong tempo he gave up pretty quick."
Michael Dee - Riverplate: "Probably felt the track but disappointing."
Brian Higgins - Prix De Turn: "Ran terrific. Had to get a long way back from that awkward draw and he tried to close of better than anything other than the winner."
Ben Allen - Hitotsu: "He ran well. Very nice horse and looking forward to when he gets to Flemington."
