Will he get a slot in the #TABEverest?@mcacajamez @JamesCummings88 @aus_turf_club pic.twitter.com/eME2a7lcZa
Winning Trainer: James Cummings
On the win: "We set the horse for the Roman Consul. As we've stated in the past we have a lot of confidence in the colt. He's won it in good style. There was a bit of pressure on him being the short priced favourite. He had the wide run and put himself into the race."
"Had a couple of good horses chasing him down. You have to be impressed by the win. He hit the line really well the last 3 furlongs with a sustained sprint. He's definitely a high class colt and we have some options with him."
Onto The Everest?: "I think it worthwhile giving it a lot of thought. There are other options too. He'll be competitive in The Everest on the seven day back up I'm sure. The Manikato is an option for him and so is the Coolmore. The winner of this race tends to be a very good lead up to the Coolmore every year. They always run well. He's knocking on the door to be a potential G1 horse but that is for us to consider. There is not long to go before we have to lock in our own horse and you'll know once we've had long discussions."
On Trekking: "He's really good. He was burning around the track this morning at Osborne Park and if the breast plate had of broken he might have ended up in the Vale of Avoca. With any luck he arrives here on a nice track next week in the same sort of form he seems to be in this week."
Winning Jockey: James McDonald
On the horse: "He would be hard to beat [in an Everest] that is for sure. He's a lovely horse. I've always touted him as one. I thought he should have won last start. Just how the race was run, the leader got away with cheap sectionals, dashed away on firm ground but today back to Randwick, where he's able to wind up, he's put in some good splits."
On The Everest chances: "He's strong. Never feels like he's ever going to lay down. Got a good constitution and the harder the race I feel the better he'll go. That has been evident in the last couple of starts when he's been beaten, it's just been circumstantial because of how it was run but they won't be going slow in The Everest."
Should he get a slot?: "No."
Beaten Jockeys:
Tim Clark (Sword Of State): "Had a good run. Travelled pretty strong but just doesn't quite have the turn of foot against that class of horse."
Nash Rawiller (O'President): "Tons of ability. Didn't want to show it today."
Tommy Berry (Gleneagles): "Great run by him. Winner was a bit sharp for us. There's a 1300m in a couple of week's time that will suit him perfectly."
Jason Collett (Tristate): "Hood on first time and overdid it. Over-raced and failed to finish it."
Kerrin McEvoy (King Of Sparta): "Just slow to begin. He's run a nice race. Giving away a start is always hard."
Josh Parr (Overpass): "Terrific effort. Was forced back from a bad barrier. He was taking good ground off them late."
Glen Boss (Mimosas): "No comment."
Rachel King (A Very Fine Red): "Really creditable run up in grade."
