Off the inside draw Samarkand should boot up and lead. Big field should ensure pressure for positions and a true test at the trip.

Would think that only bad luck or a bad day would stop FORGOT YOU (1) who stands right out on the strength of his recent form. Won the Stutt around here, which looked a deeper race than this on paper, and then stood up well in the Guineas last time. That was a fast and high-rating race and would think that he only needs to be close to that sort of level to be taking care of these.

Improvers away from him can be headed by VILLADEN (10) who was strong through the line on debut and then stood up well in a good handicap last time. He can go on improving and gets the blinkers this time. AKIHIRO (2) comes down from Sydney. Shown glimpses of talent up there and think the longer trip can suit him now. PATTON (5) also comes south. He was okay in the Gloaming and the Spring Champion and this looks much weaker than those two races.
