Sydney Specials: Rosehill – 30th October 2021

3 minute read

Well once again we gave SP a nice touch up but unfortunately we came away empty handed with Emerald Kingdom struggling to get past the turn.

Pulled up with a poor post-race recovery as did all that backed him.

The question now is will his performance put a drag on the Apache Chase form or does his strong market support suggest the same could happen with his fellow Queenslander in the Golden Eagle.

That rating from Eagle Farm certainly stands out and is the fastest lead up.

My slight query is that Eagle Farm is an island on its own and for lack of a better term, 'funky' stuff happens there.

Sure it was fast but will that translate to him being as fast at Rosehill over 1500m, I don't think so.

I found the Golden Eagle to be fairly simple, you have the two last start Group 1 mile handicap winners (I'm Thunderstruck and Private Eye) and the two European horses Maximal and Laws Of Indices.

If either of those four run up to their peaks they have the rest the covered.

Away from that keen to bet in the penultimate event with the Chris Waller trained Brookspire.

She went super first up before it just didn't work out from the wide draw last start at Kembla Grange.

Since kept fresh (49 days) and was given a nice trial in the lead up when not asked for anything late under Jay Ford.

Drawn to get the perfect run just behind the speed and looks well treated on best form.

Hugh Bowman sticks and she looks the best bet of the day (would have been Masked Crusader but still too much up in the air as to whether he will run).

In the Rosehill Gold Cup happy to have a throw at the stumps with the Bjorn Baker trained Soldier Of Love.

A good winner last start at Randwick over the mile he looks very well treated down in the weights and should lead for Alysha Collett.

Obviously lacks the class of a few of his rivals but at 40s he looks a solid each-way bet.

If able to pinch a few easy sectionals in front, expect him to be in it for a long way.

Race 9 #4 Brookspire @ $2.60

Race 5 #9 Soldier Of Love @ $41
