Health issues have restricted Katalin to just a handful of runs but the Godolphin mare is quickly making up for lost time.

The five-year-old was having just her seventh start and posted her fourth win when she came with a well-timed finish to claim the opening race on Saturday's Golden Eagle program.

Godolphin representative Darren Beadman said Katalin appreciated the firm Rosehill track and was heading in the right direction after injury interrupted her early momentum.

"She has always shown nice promise," Beadman said.

"She had a few problems behind. I think she might have had a pelvis injury or something to that effect early days.

"The team has been very patient with her and let her get through her problems and she's delivered in fine form today."

Last-start winner Selburose led unpressured and gave a strong kick on straightening before Nash Rawiller revved-up Katalin to give chase.

He was at his vigorous best over the final furlong and Katalin responded to nab Selburose by a head with Queenslander Georgie's Pride another 2-1/4 lengths away third.

"He's got his eye in Nash. He's great in those tight finishes, he seems to get the best out of them," Beadman said.

"It was a good start to the day and a good boost for the team.

"She's obviously shown that ability to be able to be a black-type mare.

"Now she's seasoned and seems to be over her problems, she's got a good year ahead of her hopefully."
