Reigning Warren Cotton Cup winner Not Negotiating is on target to continue trainer Peter Stanley’s success in the race on Sunday.

Not Negotiating and Stanley's daughter-jockey Ashleigh won the $30,000 race last year as a $14 hope.

It was the six-year-old's only start at Warren and Stanley feels the mare is well placed to add to her resume.

"She has been a really good mare for her owners. She was bought as a potential picnic class type of horse for $600, but has performed a lot better than that," he said.

"She has won five races and the owners have had a really good time racing her."

If Not Negotiating can win again it will push her earnings within sight of $100,000 with more to offer, according to her trainer.

Ashleigh has been a major part of Not Negotiating riding her in the majority of her starts including 14 of her past 15.

The only time she didn't ride Not Negotiating, Dylan Stanley was aboard and she finished second.

The second youngest of the five Stanley siblings, Ashleigh was in charge when Not Negotiating ran seventh at her latest start in the Coonabarabran Cup.

She was also in the saddle when Not Negotiating won her previous start at Dubbo and has a strong understanding of the mare, according to her father.

Not Negotiating finished behind Oakfield Captain (second) and Wild Rocket (third) who filled the placings in the Coonabarabran Cup, but she was only beaten two and a half lengths.

Oakfield Captain and Wild Rocket are two of the major chances at the top of the weights with over 60 kilograms to carry each, while Not Negotiating has only 54.5 kilograms.

"She was held up a couple of times last start and the firm track didn't suit her," Stanley said.

"She likes the track and is at the top of her game."

Stanley has made it a habit of winning the Cotton Cup capturing it with Dane's Jewel in 2010 and 2011.

He also finished second with the same horse the following year.

"I have had a lot of luck at the track. You have to get the timing right with your horses for these races and Not Negotiating is spot on," he said.
