  • The race is named after the Australian Racing Hall Of Fame champion, Kingston Town, who won the race in 1982.
  • The Kingston Town Classic was first run in 1976 and won by Family Of Man, trained by George Hanlon and ridden by David Brosnan.
  • Notable winners include Old Comrade (2000-01), Summer Beau (1996-97), Better Loosen Up (1989), Vo Rogue (1988), Kingston Town (1982) and Stormy Rex (1977).
