TRIAL POINTERS

WARWICK FARM December 2: Noted speedster DE GRAWIN provided the highlight, showing all her natural pace to lead her 815m heat by a big margin. Kept running to score by a clear winner in the fastest trial of the morning (47.07; 33.05).  She may not get further than 1000m but she'll be hard to catch in a short course sprint first-up. LADY BANFF may not have lived up to her early promise but her strong win her 815m heat (47.61; 33.22) indicates she is back on track to do a lot better in her coming campaign. Sat three wide outside the speed but always travelled best and clearly went to the line better than the front running Frosty Rocks in the last 50 metres. Unraced Capitalist 3YO gelding GYPSY KING recorded the fastest time in the six 812m heats (47.43; 33.50) but hard to know what to make of it as it was a sharp improvement on his previous four trials.

CANTERBURY November 30: A quick heat win among the 2YOs was recorded by the Waterhouse/Bott-trained CELESTIAL SPIRIT (56.32; 36.07).

RANDWICK November 23: Good to see a very positive trial from smart mare STORMBORN in her first appearance since August. Jumped straight to the front and really liked the way she extended over the last 200m to post the fastest win in the 742m heats by more than three lengths (43.55; 33.40). Suspect we will see the best of her this prep.

RANDWICK NOVEMBER 11: WRITTEN DOUBT, an unraced 3YO filly by Written Tycoon was having her third trial and looks to have a bright future after a sharp win in her 780m heat (45.43; 33.10). ENZINA, a racy filly by Menari, showed pace to win her heat (44.90; 32.92).

ROSEHILL November 8: Signs are strong that top stable has set quality mare SNAPDANCER for a first-up win after three Sydney trials. Improved on her Randwick trial on October 19 to control her 900m heat from the front and had plenty in the locker cruising to the line under a strong hold. Her time wasn't flash (55.84; 35.33) but you had to like the way she went about her work. Followed up with an easy time finishing second in a Canterbury trial on November 30.

NEWCASTLE October 27: Progressive 4YO mare NO LAUGHING MATTER looks set for a good campaign after her strong win in a fast 800m heat (47.42; 32.78). Sat behind the speed but was always travelling strongly and had plenty in hand picking up the leader in the closing stages. Sent to Scone for another trial on November 10, finishing an easy third.
