All Day Session has weight of support

3 minute read

A big weight holds no concerns for in-form trainer Ashley Maley ahead of All Day Session’s bid for a sixth career victory at Ascot on Saturday.

The four-year-old carries 61kg in the TBWA Stallion Tender Scheme Trophy (1200m), but Maley says the well backed gelding has the class to overcome it.

"He's won with 61kg previously and arrogantly," Maley told The Races WA.

"It's not a concern with me and he's got the talent to win it.

"I'm fairly confident, he carries me around every day."

All Day Session won consecutive races at Belmont in September including a victory over talented mare Kissonallforcheeks, who subsequently placed third in the Railway Stakes (1600m) and Kingston Town Classic (1800m) respectively.

After a short break, he finished 13th to Elite Street in the Colonel Reeves Stakes (1100m) before running second behind Triple Missile in a 78 + handicap after failing to gain a start as second emergency in the Winterbottom Stakes (1200m).

"He's been racing really well and in some cases, he hasn't had a lot of luck," Maley said.

"In the Colonel Reeves, he just got too far back in running."

Chris Parnham picks up the ride on All Day Session, who has drawn barrier five.

The son of Session has displaced Nowhiteflag as TABtouch favourite. He's into $3.20 after opening at $7.50.

Nowhiteflag has eased from $3 to $3.90.

Meanwhile Maley's veteran campaigner Red Publisher is an $8.50 hope as he prepares for his 124th start in the Amelia Park Handicap (1400m).

The 10-year-old comes out of a mile race that had him running seventh behind Chili Is Hot after getting held up until the final 100m.

He has drawn barrier two for replacement rider Shaun McGruddy.

"He was super the other day," Maley said.

"He was completely luckless.

"He's still sound and feels like a five-year-old."

At $61, Skinnen Tins is one of the rank outsiders in the Listed Starstruck Classic (1600m).

Last start the seven-year-old ran sixth to Angelic Miss in the Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m), beaten a length and a half after racing wide throughout.

"I thought he finished as well as anyone," Maley said.

"The mile is going to suit him."

Maley goes into Saturday's meeting on the back of two-year-old Swim Through scoring on debut at Belmont on Wednesday and Never Sober winning his first race after five starts at Pinjarra a day later.
