Winning Trainer: Rob Blacker
On getting the horse from New Zealand: "He was bred by my mate Adam Shaw's father Ian - Ian's a vet and he's trained over there and Ian trained this horses mother and won a New Zealand Cup with her , had good horses for year's Ian - he's like 86 now.He had about four in work and we'd been watching horse race over there and saying 'look at the action on this' and something happened and they were going to send him somewhere for a bit of education and I rang Adam and said get your dad to send him to me for education. It took a bit of negotiating, the Shaw family they've had horses their whole life , Ian's a proper horseman, he's trained stakes horses and he's part of the family so to get them to trust me with their horse , I'm very very happy, very grateful.
Improvement the last 12 months: "People say we're a small stable - we've always got eight to 12 in work and i'm going to the sales and paying $5,6 and 12,000 for horses and I just go where I think they can win, so if they can win at Terang or Sandown I'd much rather go to Sandown and Flemington. People that have horses with me they just need to trust that I'm working in their best interest.
Future plans: "I'll give him a break - I was always heading towards the Adelaide Cup but now I'm sort of thinking ….. I'll watch the replay and have a talk to Daniel, see what I think. He'll have a little breather - whether that's a month or two or three weeks and I head to Adelaide or not , I'll work it out.
Winning Jockey: Daniel Moor
On the win: "It was lovely, probably the first furlong he really chimed into it like he does but once he gets cover he switches off and he rested the best in the race. I was ultra ultra patient on him just to make sure he'd run it right out and I thought I might have got there a bit soon but because he had fresh legs and had done no work in the run he was strong to the line.
