PREMIER trainer Scott Brunton prepared the first four across the line in the $100,000 weight-for-age Kevin Sharkie Tasmanian Stakes (1600m) but it was the rank outsider of his quartet Lim's Cruiser, who emerged the victor over odds-on favourite The Inevitable ($1.40).

The Inevitable (Siggy Carr) made his move from last at the 600m mark and at the top if the straight it looked as if the Brunton's "pocket rocket" would mow them down just like he did when he won the Conquering Stakes three weeks ago.

But when Brendon Mccoull put Lim's Cruiser into a space, the former Singapore superstar sprinted quickly to take the lead and he defied a determined challenge from the favourite to defeat that horse by a half-length with Mandela Effect ($8) a closing third ahead of Brinktop Lad ($10).

Lim's Cruiser is owned and raced by Stephen Maskiell and his wife Yasmin, along with Ross Taylor and Stuart Sim.

Stephen Maskiell said the owners had waited a long time to see the horse return to winning form.

"This is a very emotional win because we just wanted to see the horse do what we always knew he was capable of and today was a great result," Maskiell said.

"I'm not sure what Scott (Brunton) has planned for him, but we will just enjoy this win."

Watch Lim's Cruiser win the $100,000 WFA Tasmanian Stakes at Elwick.
