Racing and Sports provides two horses to watch coming out of midweek racing on January 12.

Race 2: Chenin

One to keep an eye on from Wednesday's Warwick Farm meeting is the Mark Newnham-trained Chenin.

A full sister to multiple Group 1 winner Shadow Hero, the three-year-old debutant jumped away fairly in the second on the card over 1400m.

Settling just off the pace, jockey Josh Parr gave the daughter of Pierro a good ride from the inside draw, positioning the filly on the fence in fourth for much of the going.

With the leading pair looking to get it all their own way out in front, Parr shifted off the fence approaching the 600m and began to ask for more from his mount.

Straightening a few lengths back from the leader, it was passing the 200m the three-year-old got stuck into her work and began to eat into the margin.

Chasing gamely, the filly built strong momentum to the line, ultimately falling short 0.7L.

Showing encouraging signs on debut, Chenin will undoubtedly take great benefit from the run, and it looks as though she will appreciate stepping out further in trip in proceeding runs.

Warwick Farm

Race 7: Silent Agenda

Another one that caught the eye from Warwick Farm is the Joseph Pride-trained Silent Agenda.

Having been beaten a long neck over 2000m in his last run prior to heading to the paddock. The six-year-old returned well short of a preferred trip, when resuming over the 1200m on Wednesday.

Jumping on terms from his low draw, in-form apprentice Tyler Schiller was happy to take a sit toward the rear during the early going, before eventually settling just worse than midfield.

Having continued to creep closer throughout running, Schiller and his mount were only a couple lengths off the leader when straightening.

Taking his time to wind up, it was inside the final 100m when the gelding let down with his full effort and dashed home hard to make things close on the line.

Beaten a neck, Silent Agenda's return was one of promise and suggests he will continue to threaten as he rises in journey.
