Red Hot Goods to fire up in Magic Millions Classic

3 minute read

Supporters can expect Red Hot Goods to bounce back strongly and make amends when he lines up in Saturday’s Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic (1200m) at Pinjarra.

Trainer Neville Parnham is confident Red Hot Goods can reaffirm his place among the top crop of two-year-old's this season after a less than inspiring effort on debut.

Expectations were high and plenty was expected from the Choisir colt after three excellent trial wins, but he ran below his best when sixth to She's Greysful.

Parnham said their were genuine reasons for Red Hot Goods' unflattering first-up effort and he advises punters to rule a line and dismiss the run completely.

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong.

"It was a bit of a debacle the whole race," Parnham told Tabradio.

"It took five or seven minutes to get the horses in the barriers and several horses were difficult to load.

"It was a hot day and things weren't going well for the babies and my horse was almost the last one in.

"Brad (Parnham) said he just lost it before the race and was really revved up.

"There was the possibility that he may have choked down as well, he got strong in the middle part of the race.

"He pulled really distressed and certainly wasn't on his A-game.

"That wasn't his ability and he's quite a good horse.

"I've made some changes for the weekend and he's been working since in a Norton bit and a tongue tie.

"That will be his gear on Saturday and he seems to be going well in it.

"I expect to see him run a lot better on Saturday."

Red Hot Goods is $12 with TABtouch. He's behind She's Greysful $4, Street Parade $4.20, Sheeza Belter $4.60 and All The King's Men $6.50.

Notwithstanding his first-up flop, Parnham rates Red Hot Goods highly.

"I think he has been nearly as good as any two-year-old that has trialed," Parnham said.

"It's obviously turning it into race day, but from his trials I don't think there have been too many better than him.

"On what he has shown me at home he is quite a smart horse.

"He'll be very competitive on Saturday."

Red Hot Goods has drawn barrier nine and will be ridden by Brad Parnham.
