Amasenus cherry ripe after setback

Last fortnight’s Ascot meeting was a bit of a head scratcher for trainer Simon Miller.

He had six runners engaged including two in the feature race and they all pulled up sore from their runs.

Two of those horses included Amasenus and Miss Conteki, who finished second and third respectively behind Hot Zed in the Listed Scenic Blast Stakes (1200m).

Miss Conteki, the favourite and chasing a hat trick of Listed wins, was the biggest casualty after suffering a tendon injury that will keep her out for a couple of months.

Amasenus, beaten just under a length on her return, was put on easy street for a few days, but Miller has uploaded her work and she is cherry ripe for Saturday.

Miller believes she is a red-hot chance of giving him a second Cyril Flower Stakes success in three years following Flower Of War's effort in 2020.

Amasenus proved a sprinting find for Miller last year, winning four of five races and capping a top winter campaign in the Listed Bolton Sprint (1200m).

Miller believes the five-year-old is back on track after her setback and can make her presence felt against ten quality opponents in the Cyril Flower Stakes.

"I had to patch her up after her first up race, but she has bounced out of it really well," Miller told The Races WA.

"Her gallop on Tuesday was really good and it's given me the added confidence that she is ready to go.

"She is fit and sound and I think she is in with excellent claims.

"She drops 2kg, is fitter and will benefit from the run.

"I think she is a massive chance."

Amasenus, a winner in eight of 17 races and two when second-up, will jump from barrier seven.

Chris Parnham reclaims the ride after partnering Miss Conteki in the Scenic Blast Stakes.

Amasenus is $6.50 in current TABtouch markets and sits behind Triple Missile ($2.65) and Hot Zed ($6).

Iseered Iseered is $9 and dual Group 1 placed mare Kissonallforcheeks $9.

Miller will also saddle up Keep Your Feet, Time Scale and How's The Serenity on Saturday.

The trio of runners are in single figure odds.
