The success of the recent Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast is an indication of the renewed interest in thoroughbred bloodstock, and it is expected to flow onto the Tasmanian sale.

This year's draft of 145 lots boasts the progeny of 52 stallions with Armidale's Needs Further and Alpine Eagle dominating the sale along with Grenville's new kid on the block Stratosphere, with many of his yearlings expected to make heads turn and Motree Thoroughbreds again likely to deliver some top-priced yearlings from its draft of 21.

Other stallions represented include Written Tycoon, Nicconi, Outreach (the sire of Turk Warrior), Toronado (sire of Still A Star), Rich Enuff and Shooting to Win.

Armidale Stud will present 42 lots at the sale and a couple that have caught the eye at early inspections are Lots 9, 95 and 129.

Lot 95 is a striking colt by Alpine Eagle from an I am Invincible mare Garland that is well related, especially through the third dam that includes relationship to Snippets' Lass that is the dam of Snitzel and Hinchinbrook.

"On her breeding you would think that he wouldn't be precocious, but he definitely looks like he could go early," said Armidale's Robyn Whishaw.

"She is a lovely mover and ticks a lot of boxes."

Lot 9 is by Needs Further from Rose Of Woorim that makes the colt a half to Alpine Blast (x Alpine Eagle) that has a win and three seconds from his five starts this season as a three-year-old.

"The Rose of Woorim colt is laid back and moves well and those who inspect will not be disappointed."

Lot 129 is another Needs Further colt from the Pentire mare Miss Minogue, and he too is a terrific mover, buy will need time to realise his full potential.

The 2022 Tasmanian Magic Millions Sale is where you could find your next Mystic Journey that cost $11,000 and went on to win the Group 1 Australian Guineas and the inaugural $5 million All-Star Mile and netted her owner $4.182 million before being sold to Japan as a broodmare for an estimated $2 million.
