Brooklyn Hustle commences her final campaign that her trainers hope lead to an elusive Group 1 win.

The Jason Warren and Dean Krongold-trained mare kicks off on Saturday in the Listed ATA/Bob Hoysted Handicap (1000m) with the aim of sending her to stud for the next breeding season.

The daughter of Starspangledbanner has registered four wins from 20 career starts, but 10 of those outings have been at the highest level.

Brooklyn Hustle has yet to place at Group 1 level but has finished fourth on three occasions along with a further three fifth placings.

The mare's best winning performance came in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm last June.

Warren said Saturday's race for open grade sprinters was a little tougher than expected, but the mare has shown she is capable of performing well when the opposition is strong.

"It's a really strong Listed race, but her preparation has been very straight-forward, and I'm really pleased with how she's come up," Warren said.

"She's been in good races, and she's raced at the top level throughout her career, and she'll go to stud this breeding season.

"But she's going as good as ever and I'm really happy with her."

While a Group 1 win would be a fitting finale for Brooklyn Hustle, Warren said he wants to see the mare get back into winning form.

And if she was able to do that, the Group 1 Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville in May could be a fitting farewell for the mare.

"It's got to be an option, but we've got a couple of easier options between now and then," Warren said.

"But if she proves that she should be there, we'll definitely go."
