Tofane, the mare Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Mike Moroney considers among the best quartet of horses he has trained, will be offered for sale on the Gold Coast later this year.

Magic Millions confirmed late on Friday that the four-time Group 1 winner would be part of its National Broodmare Sale.

The six-year-old will be offered through the Newgate Farm consignment and part-owner Rupert Legh, whose colours Tofane has carried in Australia, said he was keen to see her go to the best home possible.

"She's such a valuable mare that she's out of my league to breed with," Legh said.

"She deserves the very best and for all buyers, wherever they are in the world, to have that opportunity."

Tofane will run in next Saturday's $5 million All-Star Mile at Flemington before embarking on a Sydney campaign before being sold at the Gold Coast sale that starts on May 24.

By Ocean Park out of the Galileo mare Baggy Green, Tofane was bought off trials in New Zealand before joining the Flemington stable of Moroney.

She has raced 28 times for eight wins, half of which have been at the highest level.

Her maiden Group 1 win came in the 2020 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick, the following year she completed the Stradbroke Handicap/Tatt's Tiara 1400m Group 1 double and just two starts ago won the Group 1 C.F. Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

Further Group 1 placings in the Galaxy (1100m), Memsie Stakes (1400m), Futurity Stakes (1400m) and Toorak Handicap (1600m) have helped her amass $3,458,870 in stakes.

Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said it was honour to be entrusted with selling Tofane, who he expects to attract attention from all over the world.

"We are truly honoured to be offering a mare the calibre of Tofane," Bowditch said.

"We thank connections for entrusting us to market their incredible performer to a worldwide audience."

"Over the past couple of seasons Tofane has proven herself as one of the country's best sprinters and she would be a standout broodmare prospect on any farm around the world."
