Race 1 COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN HCP (1100m):

The maiden boys open this transferred provincial card. Debutant Deep Field three-year-old 1. Jamesonheart is the one to beat off two trials for the powerful Maher-Eustace stable. Travelled very easily in his latest, allowed to brush home from the back under a tight hold.

Dangers: Big market watch on Snitzel stallion 4. Beppe who returns for a second prep off two trials, winning the latest in fairly standard time. Doomsday three-year-old 2. Villeins also starts off two progressive trials wearing blinkers.

How to play it: Jamesonheart to win and quinella 1 and 4
Odds and Evens: Split

Race 2 FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN HCP (1100m):

Northern Hemisphere-bred filly 3. Stylish Pedrille starts her career behind two controlled trials, and is made to thrive in soft or heavy ground.

Dangers: Godolphin filly 4. Shrine is the obvious threat resuming off a forward trial; while 5. Hatsuko and 6. Amazonite are both second-up and can run into a place.

How to play it: Stylish Pedrille to win
Odds and Evens: Split

Race 3 BENCHMARK 64 HCP (2200m): /tr>

Now the older gallopers lock horns over the staying journey, and it shapes up well for handy Sebring mare 5. Endorphins fifth run this prep. Finished hard from midfield to win three starts back before making up late ground from well back last start. Goes up a notch in class, but the inside draw over an extra 200m, and a significant drop in weight, leave her the best value in the race.

Dangers: Lightly raced four-year-old 2. Antigonus continues to progress, winning two of his last three. Draws to get a lovely trail right behind the leader, but up sharply in weight from a BM 71 country win. Keep safe metro six-year-old 1. Picaro who is yearning for a longer trip fourth-up; while seven-year-old 6. Surjin is a genuine line-finder around this sort of distance, and also drops sharply in weight stepping up from a BM 58 win.

How to play it: Endorphins to win
Odds and Evens: Split

Race 4 MAIDEN PLATE (1600m):

This could prove a solid form race over the mile headed by improving three-year-old 5. Murrajong Road who is well placed to break through at his third start. Was good on debut before working across from a wide draw under a big weight at Goulburn and sticking on well in heavy ground. Drawn to do less work here, and sire was a beauty in wet ground.

Dangers: Provincial three-year-old 3. Global Encounter was strong through the line at his second start, and the outside gate has been heavily off-set by several scratchings. Another progressive mare 8. Yggdrasil finds an ideal trip third-up, and the more rain the better being by dual Group 1 Doncaster-winning mudlark Sacred Falls. Included in exotics 9. Afewchoicewords who has hit the line late in two provincial runs to start her career.

How to play it: Murrajong Road
Odds and Evens: Odds

Race 5 COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1200m):

Good sprint for this grade with plenty of chances. Like metro three-year-old 3. Devil's Throat who is still on the rise fourth-up off a six week break, and headed for bigger targets. Tracked the speed before cruising home to win at Canterbury, and has been kept ticking over at the trials in soft 7 ground.

Dangers: Winning Rupert three-year-old 8. Peremptory returns as a gelding off two significant improving trials. Charged home to beat a handy maiden field at Newcastle last winter in only his third start, and has plenty of potential. Watch the betting on provincial five-year-old 1. Garrison who resumes having won the second of two trials over 1000m. Include 9. Sabino in exotics third-up with a claim.

How to play it: Devil's Throat to win and quinella 3 and 8
Odds and Evens: Split

Race 6 BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1000m):

Testing and open sprint, and not much between a lot of them. Keen at the value with provincial-based four-year-old 4. Islaute who resumes from a wide barrier. Suited on this big and spacious track where he can settle back and find the line, and has been fitted with two trials, winning the latest in dominant fashion.

Dangers: Tough four-year-old 2. Greenheart is your classic super honest galloper, nearly always getting a return. Has relished the conditions to win his last two from just off the speed up to BM 66 grade, and has only missed a place five times from 18 starts. Talented 3. Magic On Ice cut loose from midfield first-up off a long break to win a country-rated BM 66. Draws to get a handy trail, but normally comes back a peg next run. From a soft draw, 5. Belladeel is a knock-out chance fourth-up; while both 10. Eye Peah Oh off a dominant CL1 provincial win; and Godolphin filly 11. Salamanders resuming behind a forward trial; can both run into the placings.

How to play it: Isalute each way
Odds and Evens: Split

Race 7 FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1200m):

The girls finish the card in another open battle. Lightly raced Star Witness mare 12. Starboreta is ready to win again. Has stormed home late in similar grades last two, and ridden quiet again, can power over the top of these.

Dangers: Progressive filly 4. Speech only has to get in from the wide gate second-up to be a big threat after finishing hard to miss narrowly at Goulburn. Keep safe capable mare 8. Shanjomi who can peak third-up, and all three career wins have come on soft ground; while another lightly-raced improver 6. Lady Proisir resumes.

How to play it: Starboreta to win
Odds and Evens: Evens a special

BEST BETS:

R1 1. JAMESONHEART
R5 3. DEVIL'S THROAT

BEST VALUE:

R7 12. STARBORETA
