Jockey Daniel Moor has hit the ground running since returning from Hong Kong, but his double at Caulfield on Saturday has been soured by a careless riding suspension.

Moor arrived back in Australia last weekend and scored at his first ride back at Sandown on Wednesday before being successful on Deepstrike in the Dexion Victoria Handicap (2000m) and then Scissor Step in the Wilde Racing Handicap (1100m) on Saturday.

After his victory on Deepstrike, Moor was suspended for careless riding, receiving a nine-meeting suspension.

Moor has been riding some work with Mathew Ellerton, the trainer of Scissor Step, and said the race had panned out well for him.

"We were blessed that we'd done no work," Moor said.

"I didn't like the way he jumped that quick because we wanted to ride him three deep with cover if it presented, on the back of Seradess or Mynumerouno, but it didn't eventuate like that, so I had to drag back and in an 1100-metre race you don't look to do that.

"But it's good as I'm getting good support from the stable, as I was before I left, so it's much appreciated and hopefully we can keep it rolling."

Unwinding down the centre of the track, Scissor Step ($5.50) raced to a 1-¼ length win from the $4.40 favourite Magic Max with Hunnam ($26) a half-neck away third.

Ellerton said some feet issues had kept Scissor Step from racing earlier in his career and he plans to be back at Caulfield in a fortnight for the VOBIS meeting.

"We were a little bit held up with some feet issues early days, but he's had a really good foundation coming into today," Ellerton said.

"He had some good form lines in the spring, and he was pretty good in the end."
