Gosford's 'The Coast Raceday' prepares to come alive (Saturday)

3 minute read

Gosford showcases their second stand-alone event The Coast Raceday this Saturday and the club is gearing up for another fantastic day, on and off the track.

A stellar, 10-race program will be the highlight of the day featuring the $500,000 The Coast (1600m), the $250,000 MostynCopper Gosford Gold Cup (2080m), and the $200,000 De Bortoli Wines Takeover Target (1200m) and the recently introduced $155,000 Triple M 107.7 Thunder Thousand (1000m).

The prize purse for the day will exceed $1.8 million, the richest raceday on the Central Coast.

"We are so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to host an annual stand-alone raceday and will continue to work on creating a bigger spectacle year after year," said Gosford Race Club's commercial manager, Kristina Ayton.

"Eventually we would love to turn this event into a 'Central Coast Carnival', collaborating with local businesses to incorporate other events into the program leading into The Coast Raceday. Ultimately giving the Central Coast something to be known for."

This year the club has teamed up with Sky Racing's Kiersten Duke as The Coast Raceday ambassador.

Kiersten is a welcome addition to the team and comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience from a career (and childhood) around horses and racing. Brad Davidson will also share his insights and expertise in the lead up to the raceday.

Not only will the raceday feature the best in live racing on the track, but off the track racegoers will be treated to a variety of activities and entertainment including The Coast Fashions on the Field competition, sporting a juicy $10,000 prize pool.

This year the club has moved away from a more traditional FOTF format, so there will be no catwalk or staging for contestants. They simply register on arrival, have their picture taken in the designated 'Photo Chute' and our star judges will make their decisions from an online platform. This new format should encourage more racegoers to get involved who wouldn't necessarily participate.

Following the last race, racegoers will be treated to a live concert by the Powderfinger Tribute Band. For guests looking to continue on after this, The Entertainment Grounds has teamed up with local bars and restaurants including The Joker & Thief Terrigal. Book your tickets to 'The Toast to The Coast Afterparty' and continue the celebrations deep into the night!

A free shuttle bus will operate across the Central Coast, transporting guests to and from the racecourse. For anyone interested in attending the Rugby at Terrigal Haven following the raceday, the bus will also do one drop off here before commencing the final route. Bookings are essential.

Raceday packages have sold out, however, you can still get your hands on some general admission, trackside reserved and Hooves Beach Club tickets. After a sell-out event last year, the club is encouraging people to pre-purchase their tickets to avoid missing out.
