Matthieu Abrivard found success as both a driver and trainer on Thursday evening at Bordeaux when Jamin De Brion remained unbeaten on his second career start.

Jamin de Brion did not go forward from draw one when the mobile arms retracted and Matthieu Abrivard steered the colt two off the inside to race midfield in the early stages where the pace looked strong, as set by Jiji Goldy Apple.

Passing the stands with a circuit to go, the son of Charly du Noyer was in sixth position, midfield around seven lengths off the pacesetter. Mid-way down the far side, Matthieu Abrivard made a move to place Jamin de Brion closer to the lead and shared third in the final 800m. Turning for home, the colt continued to make headway and ran into second only two lengths off the leader before switching three wide in the home straight, sweeping past rivals and ran out a strong winner pulling away by three lengths from the second (Jet des Ves) and eye-catchingly over ten lengths ahead of the third (Jouvence d'Atout). In the end more than thirty lengths covered those who completed.

Jamin de Brion remains unbeaten with this success following on from his debut victory at Durtal a month ago. This son of three-time G1 winner, Charly du Noyer showed plenty of progress with a signficant time difference of kilometre ratings from a debut 1'24''3 (on grass) to a 1'16''1. The stallion was a high-class performer with notable Group One triumphs inclduing the 2015 G1 Gran Premio Orsi Mangelli (2250m) at Milan (Italy), the 2015 G1 Criterium Des 3 Ans (2700m) and the 2016 G1 Criterium Des 4 Ans (2850m). It will be interesting to see if Jamin de Brion can continue to climb the grades and reach the Vincennes quality.
