Expected to be one of the drawcards to the meeting at Moonee Valley, Queensland galloper Uncommon James has been ruled out of the remainder of the spring with a minor leg injury.

Trainers Steven O’Dea and Matthew Hoysted issued a statement on Tuesday that Uncommon James had presented with some minor filling in his near foreleg.

Uncommon James was due to gallop at Moonee Valley on Tuesday morning ahead of running in the Listed Chautauqua Stakes (1200m) at that course on Saturday.

The four-year-old had also been the $4.50 second favourite with TAB behind I Wish I Win in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 17.

"Disappointingly, due to the timing, we've made the decision, in the horse's best interest, to stop now and send him for a spell," the statement read.

"This will enable us to focus on the Autumn Carnival with him."

Beaten once in six starts, Uncommon James made his Melbourne debut winning the Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 13.

That followed a win at Doomben on July 9.

Uncommon James spent just over 12 months away from the racetrack after winning at his third start at Eagle Farm in June 2021 with a hock complaint which is not connected to his current issue.
