Queensland’s latest partnership of Tom Button and Ryan Tyrell are hopeful of a successful start to their new training venture, which kicks off at Doomben on Saturday.
Button and Tyrell have been training in their own right for the past six months at Fenwick Farm, formerly Wadham Park, at Canungra in the Gold Coast hinterland.
"We were both training at Fenwick Park so we just decided to start up a training partnership," Button said.
"We've had a few winners on our own lately so we thought it was good time to join forces.
"It's good to have two trainers share the load instead of one trainer going in four different directions.
"Ryan has been training for a couple of years and has had a few city winners.
"Between us we've now got 43 horses in work a Fenwick Farm."
Button said Fenwick Park was a perfect location to train as it's only about an hour to most tracks and a bit over an hour to his former base at Caloundra.
"The complex has 80 boxes and has a swimming pool, aqua walker and grass and sand training tracks," he said.
Button has two runners engaged for Doomben with Jemeldi lining up in the males division of the QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap over 1200 metres and Kavak in the Class 6 Plate over 1200 metres.
"I had also nominated Risky Investment but didn't accept because of the weather and Kavak doesn't like the wet either so he might not run but Jemeldi loves the wet," Button said.
Jemeldi is coming off a first-up second to Flaming Conquest in a 1000 metre Three-Year-Old Handicap at Eagle Farm on October 1.
"His first-up run in town was very good when he ran into one a bit too slippery for him," Button said.
"He's stepping up to 1200 metres this time and has a few things in his favour.
"We thought about sending him to Melbourne this spring but he's a Magic Millions product so he'll head that way in the summer."
Jemeldi gave Button his first Sydney runner when he finished a close third to Promitto in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes on a heavy Randwick track in late February.
However, Button pulled the pin on a Golden Slipper campaign with the son of Winning Rupert preferring to return home for the Queensland winter carnival.
