Trainer Barry Campbell usually has a few two-year-olds poised to race early in the season and he produced a couple at the first official 2YO trials of the season in Launceston on Friday.

Barry Campbell's well-bred filly Hilarity (All Too Hard-Vitalism) looked good in winning her trial, racing wide and on the speed throughout to emerge triumphant by a length and in good time (47.2 sec).

Hilarity was purchased at this year's Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale by Denise Martin from Star Thoroughbreds for $65,000.

"She is a nice filly that is well put together and has shown a bit during her education process," Campbell said.

Hilarity defeated two of Cameron Thompson's youngsters in Ride the Moon (Odyssey-Apercu) and Belle Blonde (Needs Further-Danbitrice) and both were eye-catching performances for varied reasons.

Broadmarsh trainer Brendan Mcshane was pleased with the win of his filly Kaboom Kaboom (Smart Missile-Pizzazz) in the remaining two-year-old trial.

Kaboom Kaboom raced outside of the leaders for most of the way and had enough in reserve to hold out three main rivals to score by a head from Tenessine (Needs Further-Silver Strike) with Gretal (Stratosphere-Gentle Melody) a short half-head away third.

Stable foreman Harry McShane said the stable has been very impressed with how the filly has adapted to racing life.

"We paid $45,000 for Kaboom Kaboom and she has always shown above average ability at home.

"We are sure she will be an early two-year-old and the way she handled everything today has reassured us she is on the right track."
