2022 COLONEL REEVES STAKES - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Colonel Reeves Stakes is a Group 3 race run under Set Weights and Penalty conditions for the open class sprinters at Ascot conducted by Perth Racing.

The Colonel Reeves Stakes is run over 1100m. It was first run in 1984 and was won by Heron Bridge.

It is a vital local lead up to the G1 Winterbottom Stakes run a fortnight later.

The Colonel Reeves Stakes was run over 1200m until 2009 when back to 1100m.

Initially a Listed race, the Colonel Reeves Stakes was a Group 3 from 2005.

Vega Magic won in 2016 and took the Scahill before transferring to Lindsay Park where he scored multiple G1 wins including The Goodwood and Memsie Stakes.
