Smart sprinter Taksu is chasing his third Listed win in succession in the Razor Sharp Handicap.
Taksu ended his most recent campaign on a career high and trainer Joe Pride is hoping the sprinter can continue where he left off when he resumes in the Racing & Sports Razor Sharp Handicap at Randwick.
The seven-year-old broke through for his first black-type win in the Civic Stakes (1400m) in June then backed it up with another Listed victory in the Winter Stakes a month later.
He returns for his latest preparation in Saturday's 1200m sprint and while he is yet to win in six attempts at the journey, he has filled the minor placings in five of those six runs.
Taksu has had two trials to prepare for his return, the latest when fourth to Night Of Power over 1000m at Hawkesbury and generally performs well at Randwick where he has three wins and two seconds from seven starts.
"He won four races last preparation and was super going through the grades when he got a couple of Listed wins," Pride said.
"He generally needs a run first-up, but he can run a cheeky race.
"I'd just love a bit of rain around for him."
Glyn Schofield developed a rapport with Taksu last campaign, steering him to his two feature race wins and horse and jockey will continue that partnership at Randwick.
Schofield will be chasing his second successive win in the race after scoring aboard Special Reward last year.
A field of 13 accepted for the summer sprint on Wednesday with promising galloper Waihaha Falls opening favourite at $3.90 with Taksu a $13 chance.
