Winning Trainer: John O'Shea
On the win: "It's a great honour for our team, particularly to do it for Ron (Finemore) and his owners."
"A perfect ride by Brenton (Avdulla). We were so happy with him coming into the race, I just felt the 57 (kilos) may be a bit much for him. That was the only issue I had with him, the ground was fine."
On other stable runners: "We knew that (runner-up) Lion's (Roar) was ready to run a big race so we were really happy with all their runs. Poor Diamil, he got held up on the inside so we'll find another day for him."
On Kirwans Lane: "He was one of the first horses I bought, Kirwan's Lane, in New Zealand when I first came back training. It's a special time to be doing it for good people."
On his 11 wins: "It is (almost) the most winning-est horse I've trained. My darling wife (Isabelle) will be in some hotel in New York styling up and enjoying it, no doubt. She has got a share in him so she will be pretty excited.
Chance of him going to New York? "I've got to stay home and work so she can play."
Winning Jockey: Brenton Avdulla
On winning: "It's a funny industry. I missed this time last year through injury. The Autumn was very special to me and now to be riding through. I had a bit of a lean trot. Family is all that is important to me and my health. It swung around this week my luck. I had a few winners during the week. It was Grand Final day for this horse. He executed everything really well and John prepared him tremendously."
On riding for John O'Shea: "He is one of my favourites for sure. Harsh but fair. He doesn't really need to let you know when you've stuffed up. We have a really good working relationship. Tom and his whole stable too. We've had a lot of luck over the years. It would have been a bit sad if the second horse had beaten him. I won a Randwick Guineas on him a couple of seasons ago."
On the run: "A perfect draw for him. He came out of 9. Obviously with Gai's speed horses drawn wide they were always going to cart us over at some stage. Ended up getting a lovely spot one out, one back. Timmy skipped before the bend. He hit the front at the 250m and knuckled down when it counted and got the job done."
Beaten Jockeys:
Kerrin McEvoy (Huetor): "Great run. First up he's run a cracking race. Good to have him back. Perfect."
Tom Sherry (Sunshine Rising): "Super proud of his efforts. It was always going to be tricky from an outside gate. He tries really hard. If he drew an inside gate he'd be right in the finish."
Jay Ford (Polly Grey): "She ran a credible race. Obviously conditions today are not to her liking. She likes the cut in the ground. She did well."
Winona Costin (Surf Dancer): "Really good run. Got a nice trip from the bad barrier. Just peaked a little bit late."
Tim Clark (Riodini): "Good honest performance from him today."
Dylan Gibbons (Berdibek): "Just got spat up the fence early and then he ran as well as he could."
Ben Coen (Lion's Roar): "Ran really well. He stepped up from his last outing. Loves this track and distance. Really happy."
Josh Parr (Sky Lab): "Terrific effort. Barrier one is not ideal for that horse."
Nash Rawiller (Skyman): "He ran really well. We lost our position at the half mile, racing tight. Losing two lengths is like losing five today. He finished off nicely."
Sam Clipperton (Atishu): "She has gone terrific. I enjoyed a nice run off a wide draw. She has gone down fighting. She brought her class into the race and run accordingly."
Jason Collett (New Mandate): "Raced in tight quarters. He didn't really like that. Presented for a run."
Andrew Adkins (Bartholomeu Dias): "Super run for a horse not suited at a mile."
Reece Jones (Diamil): "Was held up to the turn and stopped his momentum but savaged the line."
Ashley Morgan (Aramayo): "He has run tremendous. I felt if I had clearer air it would have been closer. Massive run."
Rachel King (Dajraan): "Had a tough run from the gate but probably didn't run out a strong Randwick mile."
Regan Bayliss (Brutality): "He was a bit sluggish away again. We were able to get a cart up into the race. Didn't really let down today. Hard to win from where he was. He is really looking to get his foot into wetter tracks."
Tyler Schiller (Spirit Ridge): "He was very good. Didn't get room the whole race. He was good late when he had a bit of room."
Michael Dee (Longvillers): "Travelled really well throughout. Couldn't finish off for whatever reason, not too sure."
Zac Lloyd (Wild Planet): "Super run. He tried very hard."
