Moody quinella may meet again
Peter Moody-trained fillies She Dances and River Noire finished one-two in the Lexus Holiday Plate (1200m) and could again lock horns at Moonee Valley on New Year's Eve.

The VOBIS Gold Carat (1200m) is next on the agenda for She Dances with Moody saying the VOBIS Gold money was 'too good to ignore as she's Victorian bred'.

"I stand to be corrected, but I think River Noire might have a VOBIS tag on her backside as well," Moody said.

"So, there is a chance you could see them back in a couple of weeks' time, but they are a couple of fillies that you could see at the backend of autumn with their pedigrees, looking for some black type.

"Being fillies that are winners with metropolitan form, you need to get 'black type'."

Reward for consistency
For Real Life broke her city maiden status at the ninth run of her campaign when taking out the G H Mumm (1100m).

The Leon and Troy Corstens-trained mare began her campaign with a win at Mornington in May and has raced every month since.

Saturday's victory was the first time For Real Life had raced twice in a month after finishing third behind Blistering at Pakenham on December 3.

Assistant-trainer Dom Sutton said it was pleasing to see the mare finally get a city win on the board.

"She has been up for a long time, but she is a tough mare," Sutton said.

"It was good to see her get the job done today. She was a bit stiff last start when the stablemate got in her way and hindered her late."

Dry track suits Pounding
Part-owner Wylie Dalziel says Pounding is the perfect advertisement for summer racing with his aversion to wet tracks.

Sunny conditions and a strong breeze resulted in the Flemington track being upgraded to a Good 3 after Pounding won the #Lovethehorse Trophy (1600m).

The Peter Moody-trained galloper was backing up from chasing home Detonator Jack over 1600m at Sandown last week.

"For the form analysts that do the form on this horse, he's a dry track specialist," Dalziel said.

"He tries in the wet, but he doesn't handle it.

"The only little query was the seven-day back-up, but Moods said he was in great order, and you wish you had a stable full of horses like him."

Protest surprise for Invincible Caviar
Trainer Peter Moody and the connections of Invincible Caviar were happy to share the prize with My Yankee Girl in the Festive Season Sprint (1200m).

But a stewards protest on a whip breach resulted in the protest being upheld, and the daughter of Black Caviar landing her fourth win from six starts.

Moody, who registered a winning treble, was caught a little off-guard by the mare after she had a big blow following the win, her second in succession after scoring at Pakenham on December 3.

"She's probably more in my condition than race condition," Moody quipped post-race.

"My Yankee Girl is a stakes winning filly and that's the level we aspire to get to.

"She's not mum, we've always said that, but she's an honest filly and has 'black type' ahead of her."

Quote of the day
"I'm spewing. He was feral, jumping out of his skin when giving him a pick yesterday. I was going to double my bet" - trainer Robbie Griffiths on having to scratch Halvorsen from the Kensington Stakes after a scope confirmed mucus in his airways on Saturday morning.
