Trainer Symon Wilde said Tralee Rose, who hasn't raced since running down the track in this year's Melbourne Cup, would target the two mile feature next year.

"She's just come back into work, we're going to aim at the Adelaide Cup,'' Wilde said.

Tralee Rose won five of six starts before she jumped a $1.85 favourite in the 2021 Adelaide Cup when fourth behind Good Idea.

That put her on a path to the Melbourne Cup later that year winning the Geelong Cup before she finished ninth behind Verry Elleegant in the race that stops the nation.

She was put on a Melbourne Cup path again this year but struggled to find her best form before running 17th behind Gold Trip.

"She's had a bit of bad luck here and there in a couple of these Melbourne Cup campaigns so we're going to drop the bar a little bit and I think it's a really nice race for her,'' Wilde said.

"She's our only one that's at that level. You hope things go a bit smoother than they have, but that's racing, we understand that and we're grateful to have a good horse like her.

"There would nothing wrong with aiming at an Adelaide Cup and I think she'd be a really good chance in a race like that,'' he said.

Wilde said Tralee Rose was likely to do all her racing in Adelaide next year resuming in the Premier's Plate (Birthday Cup) before tackling the Group 3 Lord Reims Stakes, the race she won by 3.5 lengths, in 2021, before racing third-up in the Cup.

"She'll go to Adelaide for all three runs, the lead-up races are all two weeks apart and it's a good program for her,'' Wilde said.
